Smart Thermostatic Radiator Valve

Heat your home efficiently with Smart Radiator Valves

With the rising costs of living, we’ve been looking at ways to make our homes even more energy and cost efficient to help keep those bills down. One way to save could be through your heating system by swapping your radiator valves to Smart Radiator Valves for even more control of each rooms temperature.

How do Smart Radiator Valves work?

Put simply, Smart Thermostatic Radiator Valves or Smart TRVs measure the room temperature using integrated temperature sensors. Once the temperature of the room is reached, they automatically switch off.

Smart TRVs control the flow of hot water into a single radiator, similar to the traditional thermostatic radiator valve. However, rather than continuously allowing water into the radiator based on the limited 1-5 setting, Smart TRVs read the ambient temperature of the room to automatically switch off (and on if needed), making them a more energy efficient option for heating the home.

Can Smart TRVs save money on heating?

A Smart TRV set up can save you money on your energy bills by allowing you to control your homes temperature room-by-room. For example, if you have a room that gets too hot too quickly, you can set the Smart TRV in that room to switch off once a reasonable ambient room temperature is reached without affecting the rest of the home.

Smart TRVs become even more energy and cost efficient once you connect them to your smart home hub. This connection will allow you to control each rooms set temperature, or simply turn them off, when you’re away from the home (or room!).

Are Smart TRVs compatible with my smart home hub?

Honeywell, Tado, Drayton Wiser and many others supply Smart TRVs that vary in compatibility with the major smart home hub devices such as Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple Homekit, and Android App. However, it’s worth noting that Hive valves require the Hive Hub for example, so some due diligence will need to be taken to ensure the preferred set up works.

If you’re unsure of the best route to take, we can help you choose the right set up depending on your home automation preferences and budget, taking into consideration what’s compatible on the market currently.
